Roadways destroy and fragment amphibian habitats and migration paths, resulting in population decline and genetic isolation.

Research indicates that the combined ecological effects of roads may extend outward from the road edge beyond 100 meters.

Human intervention, such as building simple underpasses for the amphibians, or driving carefully during their annual migrations can help save lives.
